Foundations of success

Born in February 1982 in São Paulo, Brazil, to a family of Portuguese descent, Gabby was introduced to sewing from an early age. Her mother always had sewing machines at home, and creative stitching quickly became a part of her life.

In 2004, Gabby's mother and uncle started a small garment business in the heart of São Paulo. The business grew quickly, giving Gabby early exposure to professional craftsmanship and customer service.

Although Gabby initially pursued a career in education, earning a degree in pedagogy and completing two postgraduate qualifications, her love for sewing never faded. She continued honing her techniques, learning embroidery, and developing a passion for cross-stitch, which she proudly used to personalize her daughter’s entire layette.

The family business came to an end in 2015 following the passing of Gabby’s uncle, and shortly after, Gabby and her family moved to the United Kingdom. Embracing a new chapter, she combined her lifelong passion for sewing with her professional discipline to create Gabby Atelier in mid-2016.

Today, Gabby Atelier is a boutique, home-based sewing studio offering expert tailoring, clothing alterations, bespoke fittings, embroidery customisation, and handmade fabric accessories. Gabby works closely with clients in both English and Portuguese, ensuring a warm, approachable, and personalised experience for everyone. Every piece is crafted with meticulous care, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
